POSTED 2 was a selected showing of 6 artists work and work place. Following on from POSTED 1, we proposed/were invited to make a project for the YELLOW Box Art & Music Centre opening, so we did…
We selected six artists to include an image of ‘work’ and an image of ‘workplace’.
The posters were printed to A2 size and laminated by AOF Printers on South Mall in Cork, a very nice job.
We flew to Sweden on 5th July.
The Yellow Box Art & Music Centre was launched on the weekend of 6th-9th July. Helle Kvamme and John Leo Carter – an artist and a musician respectively – bought and renovated a former school house in the small village of Sattra on the Swedish island Oland. They have lived in the house since 2005 with their 3 children and their dog. The launch event involved two art projects and two concerts, hosted in the Yellow Box and in Andels Mejeri – a newly opened restaurant/pub in the village.
After arriving, we took all the posters out of the tube, laid them out and had a look at them.
Then we went outside to look around…
After some discussion with our hosts – Helle Kvamme and John Leo Carter – we decided to install the posters using only what materials and tools we could find around the house and garden.
We wanted to make a trail around the house, to draw visitors in to areas they would not normally go. It was also related to the Swedish laws on rights of access – anyone can legally walk through anywhere.
(more images to follow…)
We also visited a nearby artist group Kultivator
They live on an organic farm and use the space and facilities available to make work.

We would like to thank Helle, John, Finche, Matilda, Nils, Jovanni and Mindi for their hospitality. We’ll be back soon! Even though it rained a lot, the residency was a brilliant experience, and very inspiring. Tack själv!
Our residency in the Yellow Box Art & Music Centre was supported by The Arts Council of Ireland under their Travel & Mobility Award..
